Downhill again

WHAT DO YOU DO?

For so long, everything has been alright, but then there are those days where the sky falls on top of you.

It's one of those days where it all goes wrong. Before you know it, you're depression and rage has gone out of control. If you're not acting violent (even if it's just an itty bit violent), you're wishing that you would just die aloud.

You want to be out of the house, but you have nowhere to go. All you want is to stop the anxiety from raging, calm down and maybe get some sleep so that things can go back to "normal"

What do you do when all that you can think of doing is banging your head against the wall so that it nubs the pain and the thoughts?

I don't have an answer, but I sure know what you're talking about. For me, I struggle between banging my head against the wall, or slashing my arms open again with a razor blade.

(This is a serious answer)

I eat Chocolate or Ice Cream, or Chocolate Ice Cream.

I give myself a break, don't ask as much from myself.

I watch a movie.

As a friend say's.."One step forward...two steps back...". But, I find it doesn't last forever, that the bad times come and go in cycles. During the bad times, it might be a good idea to really look at your pain and get to your doctor **asap**. This CAN be somewhat 'cured'...and often it just takes some 'tinkering' with medications, as well as changing your routine. Don't accept it...and reject it, push it away, and hang on tight. It's been ten years with me, and I feel I am just barely starting to be able to live again. Somedays it's only one step back, and two steps forward. It's not *always* going to be bad.

Oh..just to note...I also found too...the summer can be very hard. It's hot, but I find air conditioning can make me feel lousy too. I feel achy and tired, so I take some super pain killers. In his book "Beyond Prozac" the author talks about using aspirin and ibuprofin...and I also use lots of codiene also for the tough days. The reason is the same chemicals in our body that cause inflamation also can cause depression and anxiety...and these and any anti-inflamatory drug destroy's these chemicals. Sometimes it feels like my who body is one big 'nerve in pain'. Again..talk to your doctor. I have to take LOTS of these drugs along with my Prozac. Also, I find a benzo like Klonipin absolutely needed.

Oh, and I also find once the pain goes away, the fatigue starts going away. Sometimes it's better...sometimes it's worse....but you do deserve the 'better' part, indeed. Hang in and hang on....

Peace and hope...
Jay

Wow, im feeling EXACTLY the same as you today, and for the past few days, wanting to get away from home but having nowhere to go. *sighs* I dont know what you can do to stop it, I really dont.

A quart of rum and two tickets to Aruba would be nice. Sometimes I don't even want to go home. Home is my sanctuary. It's where my beloved dogs are and yet, I'm afraid to go home. Anywhere but home, anywhere but here, in my head would be nice.

We think the same way. I've been hospitalized thrice for attempting suicide and I don't know how many times for losing my sanity. Just yesterday I thought of dying again. I'm very confused but I'm not afraid of dying. That's a scary thought.

That's really sweet of you. Thanks. Not many people are up to helping people with this kind of condition/disorder. Even if they are suffering from it themselves.

Psychobabble has helped me a lot these last 2 days. Before that, I was just in a downward spiral. It's nice to know you have people to lean on even if you can't see them.

>Sadly,I have no answers, but I know exactly how you feel...times like that I even find myself resenting(hating?)people I see who seem to feel "normal" and I swear some day I'm going to smash the TV if I see one more commercial for some drug that "makes me feel like myself again". It's been so long since I've felt normal I'm not sure I would recognize it if it came up and bit me. However, tomorrow is another day and there is always some new med to try. I have found that Tai Chi, meditation and deep relaxation techniques help a bit ( though sometimes meditation can trigger a panic attack...how's that for irony?) Hang in there is all I can say and know you're not alone. Worrier.
