Fish Oil Caused Tachycardia/anxiety

Posted by Peter S. on March 11, 2003, at 15:53:03

I started fish oil and after about 2 weeks I noticed my heart was beating very rapidly and I was also increasingly anxious. I've stopped taking it. Anyone else have this experience?

You might try balancing fish oil (Omega 3) with primrose oil. I don't recall the specifics, but if you take too much of one type it creates an imbalance, and you might avoid this by taking the exact same amount of primrose oil.

I'm sorry I cannot be more precisek, or site background. But over a decade ago, I had a terrific dermatologist put me on them both, and he explained it's important to balance them precisely.

How much were you taking? I'm about to start trying it, so would be interested. I tend to be very sensitive to meds, so wonder if I should be cautious with this too...

Thanks

Hi mopey,

I was taking about a tablespoon of Carlson's liquid fish oil. This should provide about 1200 mg of EPA. Maybe too much?

A tablespoon of Carlsons, I think, would provide more like 2400 mg of EPA. One teaspoon contains 800 mg. of EPA and there are about 3 teaspoons per tablespoon, I think (haven't done any baking in a long, long time, but I think that is the ratio).
