Nardil gets me off like f**k -- Anyone on 105mg?

Posted by ace on February 27, 2003, at 23:09:51

Hey boys and girls. I'm making the move from 90mg to 105mg (probably) 90mg has(and is continuing) to kick OCD's ass. But there's too much there. All this talk off 40% relief from SSRIs and the rest is therapy is nonsense. I'm looking for 100% relief. And I've seen PLENTY who get it (of course their hardly ever on SSRIs or at least on SSRI with anti-psychotic augmenter) Specifically, is anyone on 105mg of this beautiful carbon compound?

BTW...

NARDIL makes me laugh
NARDIL makes me whole
NARDIL makes me ecstatic
NARDIL makes me smile
NARDIL makes me at peace with the world
NARDIL makes me orgasm...um...that's not true!
NARDIL makes me so happy I get in silly
moods like this!

NARDIL IS THE BEST!

BTW, I have a date with a hot chick this Sunday -- never would have happened pre-Nardil!

God Bless Nardil and God Bless all of us psycho-babblers!

I'm not chad from social fear.

I am Ace (Andrew) from Australia. I am a Nardil freak.

I think Chad is banned. I don't think he's on Nardil anymore. I read from his posts. Didn't call himself Kregpark and other names.

Did the swear word make you think it was him? It wasn't.

Check out past posts - I'm everywhere

1 mg of Klonopin, I intro'd a speaker in a lecture I arranged.... blonde girl in audience at end went up to me and we started talking... good things.

I'm almost 20, so my goal is to kiss before then. Preferably a girl, because my computer has yucky Dr. Pepper all over it.

My doc is still giving prn Klonopin (but basically was told by his esteemed colleague, who I arranged to see for a consult, that my case was severe social anxiety that required agressive treatment,

so know he's sort of embarassed his fellow super famous doc spotted something I was trying to convince him for a year and a 1/2 now, and put up with him saying things like "you're being irrational, you're a nice guy, you'll get over it" and such nonsense)

All because he's afraid of .5mg of Klonopin giving me withdrawls for a week when I'm like 37 or something. Heck, if he really knew how lonely I felt, I think he'd realize I'd put up with crack withdrawls for months if it meant I could get a girl someday. Besides, girls like me, which just make it more frustrating...

Ace (Chad),

You sound a little hypomanic in your writing. Is this a possibility?

Best wishes.

Ace, how wonderful that the Nardil is working for you. Its great to hear a success story, especially from one who is young and had to go the extra yard to get the med you needed. (If i understood from your posts, you are in Australia and had to go to a bit of extra effort to get the Nardil). It gives encouragement to ones who still are struggling with depression, which we all know makes it seem near impossible to make that effort we have to, to help ourselves.

He sounds hypomanic? Perhaps, to me... he just sounds really happy.

Even if he is "hypomanic"(I HATE that term), Hypomania ain't so bad in my opinion.

Why is it called hypo manic?

Hypo means low-- that would mean he was in a less manic state literally. Hyper sounds like it would be more fitting... What am I missing?

As far as I know, hypomanic is the term being something like manic but not quite all the way manic. not sure that makes sense, but anyway.

With so many people that seem to be depressed now, any time someone's feeling very cheery & hyper, those familiar with bipolar may make the mistake of thinking a person is hypomanic rather than just giddy with 'joi de vie'.

Hypomania can still be too giddy to be pleasant. The person in the low scale of hypomania may feel good - too good, but it can be too much for those around such a person. And it doesn't take long before the good feelings are gone for the hypomanic person & it escalates into full blown mania.

I'm ADHD & when I've felt high on life alone, my doc has asked me from time to time if I may be slightly manic. True mania doesn't calm down where appropriate & is generally beyond the person's control. Simple hyper feeling is completely controllable & doesn't stretch on for days. When you're tired, you're tired & have no problem falling asleep either.

Thanks everyone, I get it now! (nm)

Let's not forget our friend 'dysphoric' hypomania- put simply, just the opposite of euphoric. It's often referred to as a mixed-state, meaning that the unlucky bastard on the receiving end is both 'manic' and depressed at the same time(depressed, but with an uncontrollabe surge of anger/energy).In practice, this can mean being in a barely controllable(or uncontrollable), sometimes enraged state with little or no restraint over your thoughts or actions.Unsurprisingly, it is very dangerous, and not much fun.People in this state often act on suicidal impulses they previously managed to control.

So what does manic look like then? (nm)

You are right Colin. That condition is the worse experience I have ever felt. When I don't address my health needs it is the fear of returning to that state which motivates me to get help of some sort. Mood stablizers can diminish the extremes but for me the rapid cycling still occurs.

It is a rough balance. I find that even exercise can send me spiraling in either direction. I think the trick is to make my pdoc earn his money by keeping him informed of what is happening.
Yes the drugs are toxic (even fatal) but the alternative is frightening.

Colin- I never experienced "mixed states" until well after I started treatment with ADs. Is it possible they were a contributing factor in my progression toward dysphoria?

Can't you be supportive? I am not Bipolar. Never. (nm) » Rainee

Dave,

Yes, AD's can (and often do) trigger this type of hypomania in susceptible individuals-like you and I.Trouble is, there's no way of screening somebody in advance prior to prescribing AD's(unless of course you've been manic/hypomanic without AD's in the past).
AD's triggered these bouts of (dysphoric)hypomania in my case. It's quite common, and recently some psychs. have started referring to it with yet another catchy bipolar term...bipolar-111 !!
Don't misunderstand me, I'm actually all in favour of antidepressants. But signs of hypomania are very often(almost always!) missed by GP's- if I or my GP had recognized my obvious hypomanic responses to Effexor Prozac and a tricyclic two years ago, I might not have triggered this bipolar condition which will now be with me for life.

Col.

ps.come to think of it, Prozac made me high as a kite, and I thought it was great at the time!!

Hey Ace,

That's great, it really is.I never suggested that you or anyone else had 'swung into hypomania.'Most people don't, and many never will.
But unfortunately, a significant minority do, and it's just something to watch out for.

Glad you're doing well though.

Col.
