Hi All,
I'm new to the forum. Diagnosed Bipolar several months ago. Tried Depakote and hated it. Refused lithium and ended up on Trileptal with a Lamictal (25mgs) supplement to treat depression. I really like the Lamictal, as it feels like I don't feel as much physical pain that accompanies my depressions. My depressions are a real bummer, I can function just fine - but hate life and see only pain. I tend to get a good bit of suicidal ideation as well.I'm a singer songwriter and perform with a fantastic band. Write poetry as well, so I guess I fall into that highly creative nutcase category. I'm glad to be here. I also have the spiritual side happening as well, which doesn't bother me at all. Just wanted to say hello.

hello to you too, I am new also about 5 days. I have the diagnosis of major depressive disorder and bipolar II-more depression than mania. Depakote caused me to lose a lot of hair, and I gained 30 lbs in 1 month because my appetite just soared. I also refused Lithium as it is a salt and would not help my already condition of retaining water due to PCOS. I am a big believer in lamictal-it is the only med that has stabilized me in the past. I am calm, I think more rationally, I don't anger as easy, and I sleep better. I went off it because I felt so good-BIG MISTAKE I am now about 6 days into starting up again so I can feel better and eventually go back to work. I am a senior in college and it has been a fight to continue to et my BA-in all things-Psychology and Health-I love it. Lamictal also helped my physical pain (joints hurt, stomach, etc.)I find that when I was off it, I also tended to get a good bit of suicidal ideation as well.
You go creative person:) Nice to meet you I am finding only after 5 days here-this is the best site I have found where we all can post about our feelings, meds, experiences, and knowledge-Thanks to Dr Bob!!! Enjoy, and I hope this helped you.
All the best,
