What is the least activating SSRI?

Posted by babs on February 24, 2003, at 19:57:58

Prozac and lexapro made me so anxious I could barely eat. Celexa is a little better but I'm still finding it too activating (it makes my ADD worse and does nothing for my anxiety). Just wondering what people have found to be the most calming SSRI.

But it was too calming for me, I was pretty much sedated when I took it for three or four months.

But keep in mind that different individuals react differently to the same meds. For example, while paxil is very sedating for some people, some, like me, are very activated by it.

I've recently completed 5 wks on Paxil; starting with just 2 wks at 5mgs, 3wks at 10 and now at the start of 15mgs - and haven't had a decent nights sleep since! In addition, I have to take a beta blocker to keep down my blood pressure and pulse, plus take xanax for the increased anxiety. Sedating? Not for me!

can I "third" this??? Paxil sent me into a tail spin and I landed in the hospital-this was back in 2000. I agree that different meds just work for different people. We all have different chemical make-ups and we are all unique-(without sounding polyanna) and I think that is cool
