Salmon/Fish and Mood Enhancement????

Posted by Jumpy on February 10, 2003, at 19:37:54

Hey Everyone,

I might be different from some individuals in that I am very trustful of prescription drugs, but *VERY* skeptical of health food store products. I was really interested in the fish oil stuff ... so instead of buying the Omega/fish oil supplements ... I have been eating a ton of salmon and other fish.

I definately feel better recently with the salmon. And one else try this?

Thanks.

Jumpy

I try to eat a fair amount of fish, but I don't think I could eat enough of it to make a difference for me. Glad it is working for you!

I think you're doing a smart thing, getting the benefits of fish consumption. There's a lot more beneficial stuff in fish than just the omega-3's. Interestingly, fish protein is showing evidence of having health effects not associated with other sources of protein. Just like all fat is not created equal, it's starting to look like the same thing goes for protein.

I strongly recommend that you take a selenium supplement (200-400 mcg (micrograms)/day). This will keep the potential injury from mercury contamination to a minimum, or elimate it altogether.
