Trazodone side-effects?

Posted by sl on February 2, 2003, at 17:31:47

I'm taking it for sleep.
And my appetite seems to be a bit odd.
And I can find info online that says both that it (appetite) could go up or down.

Which is more common?

Thats the easiest question ive seen on here! SL
LOL
Tricyclics give me a hearty appetite,, Weightlifting kills my appetite (I work out)
SSRIS make me vomit nearly, I refuse to eat on them. so its a nightmare
I enjoy food much more on Tricyclics than ON nothing at all
sorry, I know trazadone is not a tricyclic but..................Close enuffffffffffff

Heh, then I'm the freak of nature, cuz mine seems to be going down. Or maybe sideways....I don't have the cravings for sweets and deep-fried stuff that I normally do. Altho, soon will be PMS time so I guess I'll find out then if those cravings are gone for good or just "seasonally". :)

Thanks,
sl

You can't ALL have had that increase in appetite, can you?

Trazodone is a fairly potent antihistamine, that's why your appetite is increased.

missinglynxx's appetite was increased, mine seems (so far) to be DEcreased. That's why I was confused.
Wondering if anyone else has ever had this experience.

It's got antihistamine properties??? Interesting!!

Darn it , you are supposed to be pigging out on Trazadone. How about adding a Dash of Zyprexa, or Abilify or an atypical anti-psychotic , They work well together in my "personal" experience. Can you afford the Zyprexa? Good luck SL

Several years ago, before Lexapro, I was having a sleepless spell due to allergic itching waking me up during the night. Dr. prescribed 25 mg due to antihistimine effect and sleep-inducing affect. Worked like a charm.
