Lamictal------ Loss of AD effects over short time

Posted by JackD on January 13, 2003, at 0:29:14

I have experienced a nice AD effect with Lamictal, which slowly went away in about a week or two, but returned with each dose increase. I have read numerous posts and this seems to be a common phenomena.

Has anyone increased the dose high enough where the pleasant feeling remains? I'm at 300mg and have been for a few months.

Yeh, the lucky bastards. The AD effects feels pretty damn good.

Eh.... I'm not too good. I've been on mood stabilizer this past semester along with Lexapro, which has helped just enough to keep me from losing it. BEsides that, all meds including the lexapro now make me manic and stop working after a bit. That's why I'm working again on tweaking the mood meds.

Hehe, don't thank me. Luckily I got diagnosed very quickly since i was in high school and it was back when everyone was getting labeled as ADD.

Depression and mood stability.

still looking for an ADD med i can combine with an antipsychotic and not lose mood stability

i'm just frustrated that i use so little of my potential

i guess its a sign that you are almost in remission when you get to that point where it seems so very very close to being within your grasp

how are you doing JackD? i don't remember, are you still in school?

Yeh, i'm a junior attending college. I'm glad you're almost there. I've almost fixed my ADD but now I feel dumb as hell on all these mood medicines. Good luck man.

i understand you suffer from bipolar and ADD... have you had any problems with stimulants causing manic episodes or cycling?

do you mind if i ask what your winning combo is for BP+ADD?

Yeh, stimulants threw me way off, but Concerta, the time release version of Ritalin was a bit better than the rest.

Unfortunately, I have no winning combo for BP+ADD. Antidepressants help with the ADD and depression, but cause cycling. Also, the mood stabilizers help tremendously for me with the ADD with no downside except for stupidity. In fact the mood stabilizers work so well for ADD I don't even take any stimulants any longer.

I think what i need to do is to find a better combo of mood meds that will allow me to then take AD's without going hypo.

Take care.

I take Klonopin 1mg, Lamictal 300mg, Lithium 1350mg, and Lexapro 10mg.
