Diagnosis please...off of Effexor for 3 months....

Posted by fenny3 on January 15, 2003, at 19:51:30

I haven't been here in some time, and would appreciate any thoughts about my symptoms.

I dc'd the Effexor in order to try for a second child, and did very well for about a month. I felt fine. After that, however, I seemed to become more and more crabby, I mean really foul. Mostly I'm ok, but I have NO patience, I flip over everything. Every little thing bothers me and I lose my temper (which for me is hardly noticeable - but I feel it) every day. I've never been like this, even before any meds. I'm wound up so tight I feel like I'm going to lose it and not come back. What is up with me?

I was orginally taking the Effexor for depression, but I don't feel depressed. I feel very high strung. Very.

What is this? What do I do now?

Fen

hi,Fen
my personal opinion(and I am NOT doctor,so you MUST appeal to one)is that you are indeed manifesting signs of a depr.relapse, which can be the case of anyone on these board while being meds-free for a while ; some of us,those lucky, can stay free for months and even years but quite a lot can't really manage even a couple of weeks(for instance those with the typical Clinical Depr.,the Bipolars etc.)
I suppose, that you should immediately call your doc and eventually accept the idea of RE starting Effexor admin.(IF it has been useful for you in the past)
you should already know(from your own experience)that depr.is much more than just feeling SAD ; and whatever you are describing is the so called "for-play" the days before the depr.installation(very high tension, stress etc.) .So,"sooner the better"

Thank you. I'm afraid something will need to be done. I was hoping it was anxiety instead. I don't feel down, hopeless or pessimistic. On the contrary I feel positive, I like my job, my family, things are going very well for me right now.

You're right though, I will need to talk to my dr. I dread going back on Effexor, I'm still living with the aftereffects.

thanks for your advice!

Fenny

YOU ARE WELCOME and GOOD LUCK !!
let me just remind you, that you SHOULD hurry and don't forget :"the sooner the better" ; it is NOT YOUR fault suffering with such a recurrent malady and as such,it MUST be properly treated IN TIME
