I think Amisulpride is awesome! 400mg seems high though. If you are taking it for depression, or any depression-like symptoms, all you need is anywhere from a miniscule amount like 12.5mg a day to perhaps 100mg a day.

Before I was taking amisulpride , I was on Seroquel , but in that time I still was having problems with my fear , so my doctor decided to put me on Adepsique (2mgPerfenazine , 4mgDiazepam
and 10 mg Amytriptilne) , I take now 1 pill/day
I think I dont have to take this medicine anymore
Im afraid of the risk.
Do you think is dangerous even If I take a lose dose?

I don't know what kind of symptoms you were prescribed this for, but with such a low dose of the AP I assume you don't suffer from psychotic symptoms. In that case perhaps it would be a good idea to ask your doctor if you can stop or take something else. I was on perphenazine for about three years (most of the time 2 mg) and developed TD.
Take care,
Kari.

Hi , actually I had been suffering from psychotics simptoms , thats why I start take
this medicines.
Did you develop TD with perfenazine at 2mg?
Why did you take this drug?
How old are you now?
is the TD permanent? do you still have TD?
Im so worried about what you told me

I'm sorry- didn't mean to frighten you. 2 mg of perphenazine usually doesn't cause problems from what I have heard.

I took this drug while in my 20s in an attempt at self-medicating for sub-psychotic symptoms which are part of my schizoid/ schizotypal personality disorder. The truth is that I was prescribed perphenazine for a short while in order to withdraw from benzos which I became addicted to. My mistake was that I never went back to the pdoc and continued to take the drug without supervision- taking on the average 2 mg but also 1 and 4 mg occasionally and playing with it a lot- stopping and starting as I saw fit (something which turned out to increase the risk for TD).

I developed TD, severe depression and other symptoms which have subsided with the help of SSRIs. I am now 36 and still suffer from AP-induced bruxism and occasional flare-ups of tongue movements and similar symptoms.

I think it is important that you share your concerns with your doctor. My mistake was (and still is) trying to be my own pdoc and experimenting with psychiatric drugs for reasons other than that which they are prescribed for.

Do you still suffer from psychotic symptoms? If it is necessary for you to take an AP, is it possible for you to take an atypical? Perhaps you can ask your doctor.

Best wishes,
Kari.

hi kari
Thank you for your reply.
Well ,actually Im also taking an atypical AP , Solian (Amisulpride).I start taking the perphenazine in june of this year, when i was on another atypical AP Seroquel. Since I start taking the perphenazine ,sometimes some parts of my body , like my lips , are in constantly movement without my wish , not my tongue , but many other parts . Did you have the same symptoms at the begining?
How is your life in this moment? are you happy?
are you married or something?
is there any treatment for your TD?
Which was your age , when you develop TD? Im 23
wish you good luck
Tepiaca

Hi Tepiaca,

Thank you for your kind words.
I didn't develop any movement problems in the beginning- they showed up all at once after several years on perphenazine and involved dystonia and lack of coordination during the acute onset. My limbs and breathing muscles were also affected for a while.
Have you asked your doctor about the movements? Perhaps you can stay with the atypicals and go off perphenazine? Do you feel that the perphenazine has an added effect which the atypicals don't?
In response to your question, I am not married since I suffer from severe social phobia and cannot connect with other people.
I developed TD at age 29 and don't really suffer from what is left of it. From the outside it isn't really noticeable so I am lucky about that. Meds like Klonopin can cover it up at times.
How are you managing? Are you happy?

I wish you all the best,
Kari.

Hi Tepiaca,

Thank you for your message.
Glad to hear you are going off perphenazine. I hope you find it won't be necessary to resume taking it.
Yes, life is hard, and I am sorry to hear things are so difficult for you. Are you also receiving psychological counseling? Don't give up- things can change- with the right meds and counseling and perhaps with time as well. As you say, there are many people suffering from social phobia. Perhaps you can join a support group? That way you can also practice social skills with people who all have the same problem.
I also wish you a happy new year and a better quality of life.

Kari.
