Effexor is highly energizing intially. I cannot imagine a doctor telling you to take it at bedtime!

I take it with breakfast. Most nights however I awake somewhat at about 3am like clockwork. Sometimes I get up and go to the bathroom then back to bed. I fall asleep again shortly.

But I have just accepted that I wake up slightly at nights. It's a small price to pay for the benefit of the Effexor.

I experimented with taking Effexor at noon and also at night, but still woke up at 3am!

I don't worry anymore about the sleep break. It just happens, but I still feel rested the next morning.

I initially took it first thing in the morning, but I was really sluggish. I gradually (over a week) switched the time to the early evening/bedtime and it worked for me. I have trouble falling asleep sometimes but I also can wake up in the morning.

My boyfriend takes it at night; same low dose. It's best for him that way. He is fine in the morning. Test it a while. Good luck.
