neurontin dreams--latelu i've been crashing on friends' couches and futons, with kitties nipping at my feet anf nig (allergic) cats in my face. at the same time, i've run out of neorontin. for the past few months my dreams have been very colorful and full of love, but for the past few nights they;ve been of nightmares of terrorist attacks and infections of anthrax--a huge difference. i found 2 neurontin pills in the side pocket of my purse today, swallowed them, and half an hour later felt bery much better,

do you think this is pychosomatic? my pdoc recently refused to tenew my script for neurontin.

I doubt it's psychosomatic. I had the most disturbing dreams on neurontin, where I felt as if I was coming to the sort of insight that would end war and cure disease if I could just put these thoughts into practice. Of course the thoughts themselves were mundane, it was the feeling of cosmic importance that came from the neurontin.
If neurontin has such a strong and direct effect on dreams, neurontin withdrawal would probably have an equal effect. I wasn't on Neurontin long enough to experience that.
I am so angry on your behalf that you are having so much trouble with your doctor. If I remember correctly, didn't you move? Are there any more flexible doctors where you are now?

Hi Sar,

NOPE, it isn't psychosomatic. I quit Neurontin twice (to try different stuff) and each time I got an agitative depression or mild mixed state. It is the only mood stabilizer I have tried that really works on the mixed state stuff effectively.

It took me over a week to get through neurotin withdrawal. I felt agitated, depressed and experienced halting, yet slurred, speech during the worst of it. Paradoxically, the only other time my speech slurred was with too much neurotin.

Now I'm back on it because it takes the edge off wellbutrin and my pdoc won't prescribe benzos. If I miss a dose of neurotin I feel agitated and tense.

I think this drug belongs in the "can't live with it, can't live without it" category.

I'm on 3200mg of neurontin and I am getting the worst headaches. It feels like my head is clamped in a vice (well, almost!) Has anyone else had that? I really want to go off it, but after what you guys have said about neurontin withdrl, I'm not sure...

I'm on 4800mg of Neurontin. I got off it, and got terrible depression. So I titrated rapidly back to 4800mg.

Anyway, yeah, I've got bad headaches now, like a hangover x 1000 (and a squeezing vice on my brain like you). Today, I can feel it in the back of my head. It's painful. I'm also on Klonopin and Wellbutrin. I was thinking it could be Wellbutrin or worsening depression. My doctor suggested it could be too much Neurontin.

I don't know what to do about these headaches.

Pat, I think it definitely could be the neurontin causing the headaches. That's all I've been on so far and I'm going off it slowly this week (in anticipation of starting Depakote next week...sigh). I've found that with less neurontin, the headaches aren't as bad, and some of the time, they have been non-existent. But I have been depressed lately (someone described it well as an "agitated depression")& like your experience, I think it's from going off neruontin (or I suppose it could be the holidays?) Anyways...maybe you and your pdoc can find a new combination that involves less neurontin. Good luck to you. Let me know what you find out.
Take care--
Allison
