talking points: add wellbutrin to the mix?

Posted by Lini on October 3, 2001, at 9:43:16

Prozac poster child here - better better better, taking 40mg like a champ, no need to drink and escape my life after work anymore which is a welcome change!

However, kinda sleepy still(would love to be sleeping right now)and my motivation is nowhere to be found. (Gotta get my act together and apply to grad schools) Plus, I'm worried about weight gain (real cravings lately). I am thinking that I want to add Wellbutrin to the prozac, based on people's experience and advice here on this board. SO, my question is this: how do I talk to my doctor (general practitioner) about this without sounding like a get happy junky. I feel a little neurotic asking for a particular prescription (I have this real fear/adversion to being seen as a hypochondriac) and don't know if I have too high of expectations for my own mental health (happier, skinnier, and awake? is that too much to ask for?!?) :)

Thoughts? Talking points? Thanks!

I think complaining about being tired all the time should be enough to score yourself some Wellbutrin.

I forgot to say so there, but follow-ups regarding posting policies should of course be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. Thanks,

Let's just say that it will be alot easier to get a psychiatrist to go along with your ideas than a primary physician. Maybe your primary is up on psychiatric meds and will take your requests serious, but the path of least resistance would be to find a good psychiatrist.
