Anyone on Lamictal - how is your appetite?

Posted by Janelle on September 27, 2001, at 22:00:49

My pdoc told me that Lamictal would decrease my appetite (good news for me, as I've been trying to lose more weight), and it sure does seem to be doing that. The increased appetite I'd had from Zyprexa is gone, and now I rarely even feel hungry. I eat because I know I *have* to (especially for blood sugar regulation), but there is a marked decrease in my appetite. Anyone else out there who's taking Lamictal experience this? Thanks.

I experienced that when I took it. I had more
energy and less appetite.

I would like to experience this but have not. How much Lamictal are you taking?

Thought I'd expand on this thread ... hope that's okay. My pdoc is going to try Lamictal with me next -- I meet with her in a couple of weeks.

I'd love to get general feedback from those of you who have tried, or are currently trying Lamictal. I am very med-sensitive, and treatment resistant -- a bit leary of trying Lamictal, but I need to keep trudging onward!

Thanks,
cindy

Lamictal seems to be very helpful to me. I've had more un-depressed days in the four months I've been on it than the previous four years, and it helped right away. I also take Zoloft and stimulants, and Lamictal alone didn't seem to do the trick, but its the part of the combo that really made a difference. I too am very medication-sensitive (I take only 25 mg Zo and 5 of dex once a day)--I take between 50 mg/day of Lamictal, but I started with 12.5 mg.Hasn't made my appetite go away though (damn!).

My guess is that would be due to the Zoloft. . but what a great combo of meds you're on!

Best,
Zo
