Yup. Drink lotsa water.
It gets better, but for me it never went away altogether.

I started taking Wellbutrin SR 100mg a week ago. I have been on Effexor XR 225mg for about 6 months. I started Wellbutrin to augment sexual side effects of Effexor. BUT YES! I have dry mouth so bad (and throat) As soon as I drink water, its as if I haven't drank anything. I know what you are going through!!

I also have a adversion to fried foods....i almost threw up in super target while in the grocery part bc they were cooking something that smelled very strongly.

i have been on wb for almost 8 weeks. it does give me a dry mouth, even though i typically drink a lot of water (i drank over 5 litres yesterday!) but sometimes the water (or anything else) just tastes really weird. i also find myself thinking/worrying that i have bad breath most of the time. . . but the drug has really helped my depression, so its worth it!

Debbie,

I've taken 450 mgs. of Wellbutrin for almost 3 years now. Dry mouth was
one of the side effects I initially experienced; was quite horrible, indeed.
Fortunately, this side effect no longer is a constant with me. It does occur, from time to
time, but no longer on a daily basis.

One thing I didn't know about Wellbutrin, however, was that chemically, it is identical to
Zyban. It's was at one time (not certain if it is still) the only drug on the market being
manufactured under 2 different brand names: Wellbutrin and Zyban.

Imagine my surprise when after about 5 months on Wellbutrin, I suddenly lost all urge
to smoke (AND I never even wanted to quit smoking! ). This was approximately 2 years ago and
I haven't smoked since. Therefore, whenever I think of side effects I try to keep in mind that
they're not all undesirable (my health has improved and I'm saving quite a bit of money no longer smoking
2.5 packs a day).

I do hope that the dry mouth side effect of Wellbutrin will abate for you. For me, gum, sugarfree candies, ice chips, lots of water, et al
helped. I hope that they might actually work for you, too!

Best Wishes,
Drexxie

I'm sure it's not the only one, but Prozac is also marketed as Serafem (for PMS symptoms). And of course the same drugs have different trade names in different countries. A quick look around on rxlist.com makes this abundantly clear. For example, I'm not sure what makes the brand name "Aropax" more appealing than "Paxil" in Australia and NZ, but apparently the marketing um...people...at GlaxoSmithKline think it is.
