Anyone hear of Tomoxatine?

Posted by Lawrence S. on July 19, 2001, at 10:58:04

Clinical trials were being held at a hospital in WI a few months ago. They said it was a cousin to Reboxetine. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about it.

I think the drug is spelled Tomoxatene. Try entering this in the search window at www.google.com and you will get many matches including clinical trial information.

Hi Lawrence and Don.

Thanks for reminding me that this drug was still floating around. When I looked in on it last, I was struck by the fact that it was being studied almost exclusively for ADD/AD-HD. I don't think initial trials showed it to be particularly effective for depression. It is sort of a cousin to reboxetine in that both are pretty much restricted to norepinephrine (NE) reuptake inhibition. It doesn't seem that reboxetine is living up to its promise with respect to depression. I don't see that many people responding well to it.
