Effexor XR + Neurontin

Posted by izzy on June 14, 2001, at 0:25:01

I am about to ask my psychiatrist to supplement my daily 150mg of Effexor XR with Neurontin, which he offered to do to help me through a particularly stressful time.

I'm interested in hearing about people's opinions on and experiences with this combination.

Thanks in advance.

Here are the benefits of Neurontin:
--It can be used for many different mood disorders
--It less drowsiness, sexual side-effects,
--it does not have anticholinergic side-effects
--it comes in many different dosages now (600s and 800s)
--it requires no blood-tests
--it can be titrated quickly
--it has gained the respect of psychiatrists in less than a decade of FDA approval

Here are the studies that prove Neurontin's efficacy:

Thanx, Sal. You went above and beyond the call of duty.

I am seeing my psych next week and he says Buspar is another possibility but he's reluctant to prescribe anything if my anxiety is situational, which it is. Then again, what isn't situational?

I take Effexor in the morning, Neurontin at night. ..and other meds, but the combo works fine. Neurontin needs to be ramped up slowly, for some, lots of fuzziness at first. Good luck!

I'm on 300mg of Effexor and Neurotin. But the Neurotin is making me very dizzy. Will this go away over time? Thanks, george
