Onset of action should be similar to the SSRI's and other convnetional antidepressants-two-three weeks, possibly a month. Dosing schedule will be determined by your MD. Yes, should work for low motivation and self-esteem but not a co-existing anxiety disorder but rather low self-esteem as a result of depression. I think Edronax(Reboxetine)is a good, new SNRI; v-potent and highly selective like the SSRI Paroxetine.

Yes you will be motivated but beware of the first 3-7 days it tends to increase anxiety it made me very angry as brain gets used to the surge.
This week I've had to reduce my dose due to late prescription and the anger/irritation and a booming headache has been really bad just by reduction of 4mg [I'm bashing this keyboard!].
Dry mouth can be a bitch and weird jaw pain when starting .Don't know what it's like on its own I take it with effexor due to tiredness.Supposed to help with social probs ????.Caution ,be careful if youve had mania.Start with small dose 4mg then you can increase up to 12mg.

Good luck .

Thanks

I experienced urinary retention after the first tablet of 2 mg. Is this a side effect which will probably subside ? I am a little scared of impotence which was described under Edronax treatment.

I haven't had the urinary retention could be that it just affects men ? my pdoc said that I'd just go to the toilet more often which is nothing new.The side effects should dissapear after the first week~I don't have any accept the dry mouth.
As for the impotence I haven't read anything about this infact reboxetine has increased my libido and does help with sexual side effects of effexor.
Just for rthe record , I recently cut down my dose [thought effexor discontinuation was hell] now on the full 8mg dose the anxiety and anger has gone, so it is one potent pill and if you hate housework you may start enjoying it.

OOPS SORRY, I didn't mean to scare you about discontinuation symptoms this only applies to me as I have history of mania and I'm rather sensitive to meds.

All the best.

I had also withdrawl symptoms but from celexa: nausea, anxiety and flu like symptoms
instead I tappered down over two weeks...perhaps still too fast !? Then I began Zoloft ans after 5 weeks I still had nausea. Now I think to go off Zoloft and try Edronax for the second time.
I read that reboxetine is as least as effective as imipramin for severe depression (melancholic type) instead there are theories that both neurotransmitter effects (serotonine and noradrenaline) are needed for severe cases. I think that noradrenaline is as important for mood as serotonine.
