Psychopharmacologist Needed---NYC

Posted by Andrews on May 26, 2001, at 16:49:03

My P-Doc suggested I consult a psychopharmacologist. He thought some top people would be in New York City, possibly at one of the teaching hospitals. He is going to make some inquiries, but if any of you has any recommendations I would be grateful.

Ivan Goldberg, See his website depression central for his details. I think you can probably get to it from here. Also his list of the best psychiatrists practicing in the US for other NYC psydocs he recommends.

Hi there- just a thought.
I would also suggest you make a call to
A Dr. Laurence Lorefice in Old Greenwich
CT. #203-637-4006 He is superbly qualified and may make
a recommendation to you or that you see him. He
interned at Mass General and also taught
I believe in NY Med School, etc., etc, Harvard
blah, blah ,blah. The credentials go on
and on, but he genuinely knows his stuff
regardless of his credentials. He is pricey
though, but I see him every few months and he has
great humor and smarts and know his drugs.
There are some good people
who are never mentioned anywhere and he is
top notch in my book and many others.

Maybe this could help you. I also believe he
is originally from NYC and might give you
some direction and solid direction at that. He would not know
me as Paige so it would do no good to mention my
name. You could mention a "patient of yours
from Massachusetts suggested I call you."
I would give him a call and see what happens.

Let me know if you do and how it might work for
you. I think very higly of him and he is dedicated
to his work.

Good luck to you-
Paige

Andrew, I'm looking for the same thing as you for my son who is rapid cycling treatment resistant bipolar. I would be interested in who you find and if you think he or she is good. In the meantime, I have been referred to Dr. Boris Rubenstein. He's a psychopharmacologist affiliated with Columbia University who has a practice in Hastings on Hudson and Middletown. Best of luck to you!
