Inversine to treat Tourett's

Posted by Jennifer on April 22, 1999, at 21:59:07

I have a friend who heard about the use of Inversine to treat Tourett's she has been on many diffrent meds and has not had much sucess with them. She primarely has facial ticks that seem to be aggravated with stress. We have looked everywhere for this information and have not been able to make the connection. Inversine seems to be only used for hypertension. We would like any info you would have on the subject so she can intern relate it to her doctor.

I also have Tourett's, and funny enough for a long time I had no idea anyone else had them. I struggled all of my life with them because no one knew what it was. The only thing that I have found that works for me (mind you not a cure, just helps to control it) is smoking. The nicotine supresses it quite a bit. I never realized how much until I tried quiting. I'm going to switch to the gum to see if it has the same effect or not. But there is a big difference when I'm not smoking, or smoking less. The "ticks" act out of control when the nicotine leaves my body. I don't know if this will help you or not. If you find something better that won't depress me or make me tired please let me know.

The University of South Florida in Tampa has the leading expert on using Inversine for Tourette's. Dr. Silver is the person to talk to
My cousin used it and it stopped her tics completely.

Steve,

Does Inversine produce any mood or cognitive effects?
