Has anyone tried Dilantin for depression? I am reading a book about Jack Dryfus called "A Remarkable Medicine Has Been Overlooked". It is very interesting, he claims Dilantin cured his depression.
Has anyone tried Dilantin?

> Has anyone tried Dilantin?Lynne,
I'm suprised we don't hear more about Dilantin. It's one of the easy meds to get without a prescription, from overseas, so I would think more people would have tried it. I can't recall anyone trying it. Don't know why. It's an anticonvulsant, most commonly used in pediatrics when treating children for epilepsy. But like all anticonvulsants, it has mood stabilizing and antidepressant/antimanic potential. I ordered some months ago but ended up never trying it, since the Amisulpride I ordered at the same time worked better than expected. No need for the Dilantin trial. It sits in a drawer in the original box awaiting a rainy day which hopefully will never come. But along with the smartdrugs, Adrafinil, Provigil, Amisulpride, and common SSRIs that can all be ordered overseas without a prescription, I'm suprised at the absence of experience with Dilantin. Dreyfus's story is rather convincing. But as we all know, we each discover our own unique chemistry responds to our own unique medication. What is magic for one is a nightmare to another. I'm glad Dreyfus found his magic. I just wish the thousands upon millions of people out there suffering from depression could find their own magic as quick as right now! :-)

Lynn, my dear, I read the book years ago, and used the drug (years ago) for many years, and by virtue
of the fact that I'm not on it right now is testimony to its ineffectiveness and failure as an antidepressant.
John's right: "What is magic for one is a nightmare to another." How true, how true ...Greetz to John and Lynn.
