Combining MAOIs ?

Posted by Scott L. Schofield on December 27, 1999, at 17:35:23

I have read two posts recently that described the combining of two MAOIs. Does anyone have information or experiences about this that they could share?

Thanks in advance…

- Scott

I've heard that combining MAOIs of different types (e.g., nardil and parnate) is a good way to have disastrous hypertensive reaction! Other than this can't say I've heard much...

There have been icky reactions reported resulting from the combination of two different MAOIs, yeah. I believe they have only been reported when Parnate was combined with (Nardil or Marplan), though -- FWIW.

(Nonetheless, it sounds like a scary idea to me!)

After about 15 years with Nardin suddenly dosent work. Then I change to Parnate 30 mg/day. It works but not enough. Then I begin with 30 mg/day Parnate + 30 mg/day Nardil and the depression completly dissapear. I dont have any side efects, nothing. Ocasionally some nightmares but I feel that are related with my work. For me the combination runs beutyfull.
