Response to Reboxetine

Posted by Seth on December 23, 1999, at 10:26:50

Hi,
I've been on Reboxetine for 14 days now (been at 8mg the whole way through) and on the morning of day 10, my depression completely lifted. By that afternoon, though, it had partially kicked out, and by the end of
day 11, it had totally kicked out. Since then, there have been no changes--deep depression with zombie-like characteristics that I never had felt before I started reboxetine.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Among the longer-term users, how long did it take before you were getting a consistent response from the drug?

Have any of you added a supplementary drug to reboxetine?

Thanks for the input,

Seth

I spent a week at 4mg/day, last 10 days at 8mg/day. Still no antidepressant effect.

Each time I raised the dose, I had what I considered lightheadedness/dizziness, but I could understand calling it zombieness. (For example, I didn't feel safe to drive a car.) After a few days, this side effect diminished. So I suspect this one will go away if you can wait it out. When I felt that light-headed, I know it was difficult to tell whether I was depressed or how deeply.

I've also had major insomnia (which seems to be slowly improving), major constipation (which is not improving), and impotence (which is very slowly improving).

No, but I'd love to hear about any augmentation strategies.

Reboxetine has such a novel chemistry, that I'm willing to put up with this level of side effect to give it a serious chance (minimum 1 month) to show it's stuff. After that point, it may be worth looking at adding stuff (my pdoc is pushing Remeron) or increasing dosage (which can go up to 10-12mg/day.
