Celebrating Naltrexone

Posted by Wayne R. on November 10, 1999, at 7:00:42

My wife and I had a party on Sunday to celebrate the one year anniversary of my first dose of naltrexone. After 35 years of depression, three hospitalizations and 14 ECTs I have been depression free for a full year! Still wishing everyone my miracle... Wayne

Started the Naltrex on your recommendation. Thought the prozac was pooping out. It didn't (maybe because of the Naltrex, I'm not sure). In any case, I get benefit from it. I'm calmer (prozac really zipped me up) and I am sleeping better and I am not raising my prozac dose (though I'm not ready to lower it as I had hoped). Not the miracle you have, Wayne, but benefit I am grateful for. Thanks.

Wayne,

Could you please tell me what you know about Naltrexone?

Congrats on finally finding something that works, but the way.
That's really wonderful. I hope I'm where you are a year from now...

Hi Wayne. Many congrats! After all those years of turmoil it must seem like a miracle every day now.

Wish I could say Prozac+Naltrex worked magic for all of us. But like all drugs, it doesn't work the same in all. I sure gave it a good trial and found it neutral. But I still have some onhand and can retry it with other things besides Prozac. You were right all along however, that the early side effects do go away. The "little chunks" approach you taught me is priceless. Taught me some very important tactics that I can use to my benefit no matter what drug I ever try.

Also wanted to say how wonderful it is you continue to show up at this board. Many thanks for all your input over the months. Always look forward to your posts. JohnL.
