I am starting a Reboxetine trial.....

Posted by Bruce on October 28, 1999, at 7:55:33

Just got my first package of Reboxetine from overseas from IAS), and I'll post here sporadically to let everyone know how it is going.

I am starting slowly, at 2mg twice a day for the first week to see what side effects show up. The tablets are scored for easy separation into 2mg increments.

My depression is not too severe right now, more a disthymia/anhedonia. I may ramp up to 4mg twice a day after the first week.....

Bruce, I posted a message on reboxetine before reading yours. I too just received reboxetine from IAS. I started with the 8 mg, and among the side effects has been total impotence. Much much worse than with prozac, etc.
How's it going with 4 mg a day?

Hey Bruce, keep me posted! I'm definitely intrigued with this drug. Kind of like a TCA without all the TCA side effects supposedly. I'm very disturbed at Luke's difficulties with it. I want it to be one of those things that's different with everyone. If it gives problems to both of you, that really kind of rains on the party. Keep us posted and best wishes to you!

P.S. I've purchased from IAS before and liked them, though it takes a month to get delivery. How long did you wait? Also, if the Rebox disappoints, IAS has Amineptine. I don't think they list it, but send them an email and I think you'll find they have it. Just another option on the horizon for adventurous overseas souls. But for now, I got my fingers crossed for Rebox! :)

Hello, JohnL!

My IAS purchase took right at 30 days from email purchase to delivery.

So far, I have been on Reboxetine for 24 hours. Already noticeable are reduced urinary flow, and a bit of dry mouth. On the other hand, I was feeling a bit juiced (energetic/jumpy) yesterday on my dose, and even my wife noticed it - I am not complaining, the increased energy is one of the effects I am seeking.

As far as impotence, I haven't had a chance to prove or disprove that....but I will say that my , um, "package" has a definite look to it after taking the drug. The kind of look that occurs when you are cold or sick. You guys out there will know what I mean. I hope this doesn't portend Luke's troubles.

I'll keep posting.

IAS is an overseas supplier of drugs. They have
the most extensive list I
have seen. Their website is:

http://www.smart-drugs.com/price.html

it opens up to the extensive price list.

Bruce's Rebox trial

Bruce, how's the rebox going? Things are looking a little ... up ... here. Still a little concerned, though. One thing I do like is that it gives a nice energy boost yet has no adverse effects on my sleep.

Hello, Luke. Things are going better here, too. I read on some web page that the median duration of Reboxetine's side effects is 22 days. As far as my trial goes, I have experienced decreased urine flow, constipation, dizziness (postural hypotension) and tachycardia. Erection capability was diminished, although not absent. The side effects are already decreasing somewhat after 5 days. I think I 'll give the 4mg a day approach (i.e. a half dose) a longer trial to see if the side effects diminish.

Like you, it does give me increased energy. My first night had some insomnia, but none since. My mood is also improving.

Keep up the reporting, Luke...our experiences sound very similar.

I have just started a Reboxetine trial myself yesterday. I got the drug from Victoria Apotheke in Zurich (www.phamaworld.com). They charge more than IAS but they send it federal express so it only took a week to get it- however the FDA did hold it up for a day and I had to fax them my doctor's prescription. Last night I had some insomnia, but I am noticing more energy since starting it. I'm also taking amisulpride. Anyway I would love to hear about everyone's experiences with Reboxetine. Please keep posting!

I'm not totally sure how well the amisulpride is working. At best, it seems to take the edge off the depression and it certainly helps me sleep! It doesn't seem to eliminate dysthymia. I'll probably stay on it until I at least see what effect the Reboxetine has. I'll keep in touch.
