Zoloft, Ritalin, Klonopin, & a dash of Nortrip.

Posted by Phil on October 29, 1999, at 18:50:02

I called my doc today to ask for some augmentation of the first three drugs I'm taking. I suggested Nortriptyline(thanks fellow babblers) and he agreed.
I have been all over the map on this combo and need to get stabilized. Looking at Rebox and discussed briefly with doc and he's excited about this drug also.
Any thoughts-my life is crapping out.
I'm really tired and work, about all I have left is getting really tough to deal with. It doesn't help that I work for the most dysfunctional co. on the planet. Time for a nap...a 13 hour one.

Thanks for listening,
Phil

Adding nortriptyline to any ssri is my gp's favorite thing. My pdoc does it a lot too. Dunna bout the klonopin, but the rest looks real good.

Doesn't the klonopin make you sleepy?

Have you ruled out.....

Noa,

I'll be backing off the Klonopin very gradually and will possibly stop it altogher-we'll see how it goes. It could be laying me back a little too far but I sleep like crazy when the depression gets worse, also.
Amitriptyline worked well for me in the 80's-partly, I felt, because I absolutely slept better than at anytime of my life. Sure hated those SE's but I'll take em over depression.
I really don't know if I have a sleep disorder other than sleeping alone for way too long.

Thanks Noa,
Phil

So Phil, you work at Microsoft? =^P

... sorry, just had to get that dig in.

Phil, can we back up quite a bit?

You're depressed, so an AD makes sense, but why are you on the ritalin and the klonopin? Could you be overmedicated?

I was on Z and clonazepam when I made the switch from lithium to nortriptyline as an augmentor. The transition started off shaky in that my pdoc wanted to off lithium for a few weeks, but after a day or so it became quite obvious I needed SOMETHING to augment the Z, so I jumped on the nortrip early. Things settled, well, up -- it worked better than the lithium, so we tried to back me off the Z a little (200 to 150mg) I still hadn't been on the nortrip all that long, and I had a nasty reaction to this step as well within a day or two.

The point of that little story is that you may need to give the nortrip some time to settle in. As I mentioned in a different thread, I'm actually trying to go off Z and, having been on nortrip for about 6-7 months, a drop from 200 to 100mg of Z hasn't phased me one bit even after a week.

I'm only on 1mg of the clonazepam, for panic disorder, and it's been a little miracle for me.

Anyway, I hope this info helps.

Bob

>>Hey Bob, Been trying to answer your post but my comp. is giving me problems. Definately don't work for Microsoft. Went to my doc yesterday and am doing 10-20 mg of amitryp. and 50 mg Zoloft.
Felt good today-hope it keeps up. Don't seem to need the Ritalin right now. Nortrip seemed to wire me out a little too much w/ Z. Also, doing 1-1.5 K a day.

Phil
