I am not sure what diagnosis you are being
treated for (?Bipolar?) but in complicated cases
it is not unusual to add a major tranquillizer/
antipsychotic agent.

I believe this is a fairly new medication, and
there is not enough information yet to comment
on its longterm effects/side-effects. I think you
have to weigh the pros and cons carefully; if it
actually made a big difference in my quality
of life, I'd be loathe to give it up.
good luck,
kjm.

I started on the seroquel during zoloft. Was told it helped the Quality of sleep; that zoloft sometimes decreased a certain *stage* of sleep. As far as I know I'm an atypical,rapid-cycling bipolar.
I know it is anti-psychotic,but helps with a certain stage of sleep. Now that I'm not on zoloft sleep is even worse, but am very new on effexor EX and Remeron. I hope everything will settle down as I adjust.
I'd like to come off seruquel because of the possibility of hyperlipidemia. Hope I can eventually stop it due to strong family history of elevated triglycerides. etc.
Hope I can.
Thanks

If this is a serious concern, you are probably
already getting your serum lipids checked
regularly. You might consider following the
recommended diet (low fat, low sugar, high fiber,
more fish oils, etc.) prophylactically.
Good luck,
kjm.
