new antidepressant on the market

Posted by LKP on August 24, 1999, at 11:27:39

I've heard that a new antidepressant is coming and will be available next month (or may be available now) Does anyone know the name or has anyone tried the drug and how were the results? Thanks-LKP

You may be thinking of Reboxetine, the NARI (NorAdrenergic Reuptake Inhibitor).

The latest word from Pharmacia & Upjohn is that Reboxetine ("Vestra") will not be coming out in October of 1999 as originally planned, but will probably be delayed until winter/spring of 2000 (say, Feb/Mar, maybe as late as June). The reason is that the FDA and Pharmacia & Upjohn are still arguing over the package insert for the product.

Stay tuned.
