Andrew: I gather you are using the amisulpride for depression. I have seen some studies showing it's efficacy for dysthymia. Is this what you are using it for? How long does it take to get from the two pharmacies that you mention? How much are you paying? Any other information (articles etc) that I could show to my p-doc would be most appreciated. Thanks!
Peter

Also, what do you think of Lithium? Mirapex or other drugs for anhedonia? Why amisulpride? Is it addictive_I am a recovering addict.

RG,
I don't know anything about lithium for anhedonia except what I've read here. Do you have any mood swings at all? I've read that cyclothymia (mild cycling) may be a cause of antidepressant poop out and that the effectiveness of the ADs can be recovered with lithium or other mood stabilizers.
As far as Mirapex goes, maybe it would work much like amisulpride for anhedonia. You could go to a p-doc. and ask if he would be willing to prescribe either amisulpride or Mirapex (pramipexole).
One final note, some other dopamine active drugs may not mix well with amisulpride. I tried mixing amilsulpride with a little amineptine, a dopamine reuptake blocker. Not long after, maybe 6 hours, I felt very depressed. I'm wondering if other drugs that have a action on dopamine such as cigarettes and coffee would also cause a temporary lowering of mood when a person’s also taking amisulpride.

I just started taking Amineptine for depression/ anhedonia/fatigue, and was wondering if anyone knows the proper starting dose. I'm starting with 50mg, which is 1/2 a pill. Any info on this drug would be appreciated.

50mgs. is fine. Wait 4 days before increasing the dosage. Do not exceed 200 mgs/day. Take in the morning. Watch for these side effects: increased anxiety, and, if you are bi-polar, induced mania.

In reply to amineptine sources?, posted by George O. on July 29, 1999, at 23:34:21

Dear George,

Unfortunately, I have some bad news: I contacted an online pharmacy in Switzerland to inquire about getting Survector. I thought it had just been discontinued in the Philippines where I was getting it. The pharmacist informed me that it has been discontinued worldwide by the manufacturer. There is a "sister" drug, tianeptine, that can now be obtained in these countries but it just didn't work for me - not energizing enough for my perpetual fatigue-style depression. It may work for you though and is worth a try.

In conjunction with the Survector, I was using Dogmatil (sulpiride). Although this is kind of unconventional to use for depression, it is one of it's many, lesser known functions. It is a neuroleptic but has uses for depression, social inhibition and migraine prevention. I really believe it helped with the physical symptoms of my illness.

I am struggling daily as well, in the absence of Survector. If you find something that works as well, PLEASE e-mail me at k2brooks@uswest.net.

Best to you.

Karen

Does anyone know if Amineptine is available in Canada? I noticed the messages pretaining to this subject were placed 2 years ago. So there may have been a breakthrough in a sister drug of some sort since then. If anyone could give me any current information on this drug, it would be greatly appreciated.
