Trazadone: Anyone been helped with this drug?

I have read that Trazadone is a good sleeping drug, but it does little if anything for depression. Any thought on this?

Hi,
I am taking Serzone but had trouble sleeping so my Doc put me on trazadone at night to sleep. She also indicated that Trazadone is an antidepressant medication, usually prescribed in addition to a patients regular antidepressant to help them sleep. Anyway my experience hasn't been bad, I sleep but still wake up several times and wake up with medicine head. I am sure I am not giving you any info you arleady didn't know, but just wanted to share my experience. Are you taking this drug alone? Take Care!!

I take trazadone for sleep problems related to fibromyalgia. It works OK for sleep (keeps me alseep, but not very restful sleep--I get better quality sleep with Ambien. But I do think the trazadone has a mild, rather mellow anti-depressant effect that I like quite a bit. But I can't be sure it's the trazadone, since my depressions tend to be variable anyway.

Trazadone was added to my regimen for sleep disorder
related to my depression. I've been an insomniac
all my life -- including sleepwalking. The trazadone
has helped significantly in my falling asleep. Ambien
worked great, too, but my doc doesn't like Ambien
for long-term use. She's the expert, and I'm
sticking with my Trazadone. I've been on it about 20
months now.

Oh, one more thing -- I don't wake up feeling drugged
from it either.
