Sexual side-effects with St. John's wort

Has anyone noticed any sexual side-effects, pro or con, on St. John's wort?

I get lots of other side effects from St Johns - loud tinnitus, bad gas, unpredictable sedation or activation - but never noticed any sexual side effects pro or con. Sometimes I think it may have decreased my interest (definitely didn't increase it), but it may have just been my imagination. Are you taking St Johns, or considering it? JohnL.

I've tried it twice, and both times it worked great for depression, but both times it gave me constipation and anesthetized my penis!

>Ladies, how about you? I think I may be experiencing the intestinal problems and it sure doesn't do for the libido what 5htp did.

Leonora,

did you switch from the 5htp to st. john's wort,
or combine them? If you switched, I'm wondering
why? (because I'm still keeping 5htp as an option
open).
St. john's didn't effect my digestion or sex in
any way, but it didn't do diddly for my depression.

> I had to stop the 5htp because of severe bloat. As someone on this board described it, I looked like I was 5 mos. pregnant. I too didn't find St. Johns that helpful in the past though I think it's a good way to wean off an antidepressant. I'm giving it another shot. Maybe the price of the SAMe stuff will come down.

i've had only good luck with st.john's wort;
no sexual side effects, other than just being more into it because i was in a better mood;
i have no intestinal side effects whatsoever, only stomach upset if not taken with food;
i also found it to have an slight appetite-suppressant effect that wasn't bothersome, since i still felt
like eating well, but had no urge for senseless snacks;
i found it most effective to take my doses at the same time each day;

Are there any emotional side effects of taking SJW? I skipped taking it one day and I was incredbly irritable and yelled at everyone I knew! And no, I haven't experienced any bad sexual side effects
