Known by its name Docosahexaemoic Acid (DHA), Omega-3
fatty acids are being studied for mood disorders. Any
experience out there?

I take Omega-3 fatty acids, a tablespoon of cod liver oil a day. I can't say that it has changed my mood but I continue to take it for its other benefits. I figure that for a low cost the oil provides me with some cardiovascular and general neural protection and, hey, if it helps my mood thats just gravy. There was an interesting babble post on Omega-3s on Feb 24 by Terry.

See: www.ama-assn.org/sci-pubs/journals/archive/psyc/vol_56/no_5yoa8185.htm
(Arch Gen Psychiatry. 1999;56:407-412). This preliminary study showed promising results.

Omega 3's may be the next on my list. 9.6 grams/day is a lot of oil.

Does anyone know if there is anything to the notion that partially hydrogenated fats can block the metabolism of omega 3's? I am not enough of a biochemist and haven't done research to separate fact from fiction.
