Celexa and Insomnia

Posted by J.Hale on July 2, 1999, at 6:46:46

I just started 40 mg. of Celexa 7 days ago.
I am having a hard time "Staying" asleep. I can fall asleep fine...but I wake up & toss & turn about six times during the night...it's such a DRAG! Does anyone know if this side effect goes away with time? I also take 1mg. of Klonopin at night, which you would think would take care of this problem.
Thanx for your input guys.
Jeff

I remember that when I took Celexa--it was weird,
feeling sleepy and wired at the same time. My
sleep pattern was a lot how you describe. Simple
ole melatonin worked for me. I took 2 sublingual
tablets when I went to bed...

Just the opposite with me ...

I sleep like a baby. In fact, I think I sleep too deeply with Celexa. I used to bounce out of bed in the morning. Now it's hard to get up. I just increased my dosage from 30 to 40 mg. of Celexa, and am wondering if that will have any type of effect. We shall see.

Dittos on Remeron. It has to be the world's best sleep medicine. And it augments any antidepressant. Non-addicting. Benign pleasant dreams, not the nightmare ones. Slight hangover feeling goes away by the time the first coffee is down. Remeron for insomnia is incredible. jamie

It takes a couple of weeks for celexa to kick in, sdo it may be that the insomnia is still from the depression itself. I would give the celexa time to kick in.
