amineptine

I'm curious about this drug, which is a mild dopaminergic stimulant that is available in France, I believe.

Does anyone here have any experiences with it?

I've been using amineptine for about 5 months. I've had good results, its really helped me. I've have dysthymia (chronic depression with low energy, low self-esteem, poor concentration and feelings of hopelessness. I use it in a fairly small dose of 50mgs, the recommended dose is 100-200mgs. Some side effects are experienced at higher doses. I am going to try amisulpride soon because it has more specific action on the D2-D3 receptors.

Here is a follow up. Amineptine is available in most of the world. It is not available though in the US (or UK) because of its abuse potential. It has been around I think since the 70's. It is a dopamine reuptake blocker rather than a dopamine agonist. So it doesn't work like ritalin for example. I'm not sure mild is the right term for its effects depend on the dosage.

I read in the newsgroups that amineptine was being taken off the market due to reports of abuse, it must be true because my supplier in thailand states that it is no longer available. If anyone knows where I can obtain amineptine, please let me know , you can reach me at tubesrus@neosoft.com. thanks, George
