celexa fog sweat and ?ritalin

Posted by mary on May 6, 1999, at 16:06:53

I've been on celexa for about 5 weeks. I've been taking 40mg for a week and a half. Can't completely shake the dazed feeling. I've switched from am to pm but I'm still beat plus not really alert. Wound up slowing down for a blinking yellow school bus instead of stopping 'til someone honked and that woke me up. That kind of daze. I know when I see the pdoc he will say let's add ritalin. I've taken it before and it has made me more alert but I also felt I became less "charming", more likelly to take offense at what someone would say. I am also sensitive on this celexa. Has anyone else had experience with ritalin and celexa. Did you find yourself more defensive and not necessarily paranoid but more wary?

Also, we had our first warm day. Humid but not really. However, I felt it even though I was not exerting myself-- I'm sure this is a celexa response too. What meds are available to reduce the sweating and what do they mess up when the sweating is reduced? (Sorry, I got a bit sarcastic there. But I have been extremely discouraged this past year with medications). What a way to live a life. You sometimes wondere why you do survive or why you should keep on trying?(Oh gosh, a double morose thought!!!)
Anyway your experiences and thoughts would be helpful.

Mary,
I'm glad you posted re sweating.
I didn't connect it with the Celexa, just chalked it up to time of year and location of habitation(Florida).
I work the 3pm-11pm shift, drive approx. 20 minutes to work in A/C vehicle(with the window rolled down 1/3, because I'm a tad claustrophobic and smoke:-(
I assumed I was sweating due to my 1 1/2 minute walk from car into facility, but the sweating lasts anywhere from 1/2 to 2 hours(long enough for me to be miserable in report and starting my med pass).
My GP has referred me to a Psych Doc, but soonest appt. is June 15, so I guess I'll have to suffer till then.
I don't have any input re dealing with sweating, just wanted you to know there is someone out there in the same proverbial boat, and that I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this side effect.
