I have a male patient in his 40's who has benefited from clozapine treatment significantly. For unknown reasons, he came to me with both haloperidol decanoate and clozapine. Due to a concern about TD and his improved oral medication compliance, I am considering a increased clozapine and discontinuing haloperidol. He is on Haldol Dec 175 mg IM per month and clozapine 300mg per day. He has been drinking 2 to 6 cans of beer, 2 to 3 times per month for some time. I am wondering if risk of using alcohol while taking cloazpine increases at a high dose, say 600mg per day?
