I have been on numersous anti-depressants for the past 8 or 9 yrs. I was just changed to celexa yesterday. Does it help without increasing your appetite?

I have been on Celexa for about 4 1/2 months now and have found no change in appetite. I have had no cravings for certain foods other than my usual patterns which are a just once in awhile thing...but no change in daily cravings or appetite and no problem with weight gain. Good luck.

Hi all, please allow me to share..
I have been on Celexa now for about 6 weeks
first at 20mg then 40 daily. The only things I
notice prominently are (1) extreme sleepiness
and a "not caring" feeling - but not dopey
(2) lessened anxiety and a *subtle* decrease
in depression
Everyone says I have "calmed down", but I just
do not feel myself and still need to nap during
the day just to mak it through.

Any suggestions - has anyone else experienced
a complete lack of physical and emotional
motivation while on celexa? After 10 years on proza
this is quite a bummer (prozac worked but side
effects were bothersome - headaches, bone pain
etc.)

Thanks and take care
andrea

I too have been on celexa for 6 weeks. What has been a problem has been sleepiness, especially in the late afternoon which usually necessitates a nap. Emotionally I feel like I have more energy. Do you suppose some of what you're describing could be symptoms of the depression itself?>

Hi ruth,

Yes i personally feel I am having flashes of the
old depression still but my psych feels that because
i am "calmed down" that the celexa must be working.

I really don't agree, but i stopped trusting myself
a long time ago and tend to listen to the doctor
even if it often doesn't feel right.

But I think your experiences sound closer to what
most people feel on Celexa. I hope it keeps doing
good things for you! Let me know in a couple of
weeks if the sleepiness wears off or becomes
more bearable for you:)

Andrea

I am on week 6 of Celexa and feel GREAT :) The sleepiness & fatigue have gone, but this may have been helped by the Ginkgo Biloba i have been taking now for 3 weeks. I can also feel my sexual feelings coming back slowly, even to the point that i have been able to orgasm, even though this takes a lot longer than pre med days. I have also lost 4lbs in those 6 weeks, so i am not gaining weight. This is the best i have felt in a long time. Hope this gives comfort to some. stay safe :)
