Just wanted to know if anyone has been on Serzone , if you had any sucess and how was coming off of it, does it need to be gradually reduced,I'm on 200 mg, so far she has reduced it in 50mg was up to 300mg.

I was on Serzone 300 mg/day. The first time I took it, it worked wonderfully. I got off the meds and about a year later when back on. The effectiveness was not the same the second time and I had to switch meds. As for coming off of it ... I did have to wean off. I was taking 150 mg 2x per day. I reduced it to once a day then to one every other day and then off completely. That's what my doc told me to do. I don't know if there are any withdrawal effects if you don't. Did you find it was not working for you or were you having side effects? I'm now on Pamelor and after being on it for 3 weeks, I'm starting to feel a little better. I'm still not sure how it will do in the long run though ... I still have reservations. Well, good luck with the Serzone ... hope my info helped.

I was on Serzone for about a year, but at a low dose (100mg) because of side effects. It was only partly effective at that dose. I went off it by tapering over about 10 days, no problems. But my depression did come back and I had to start up with another AD. Also, there's some interesting discussion about managing withdrawal symptoms on Psychopharmacology Tips.

Coming off Serzone hasn't been a problem for me. I've taken it for the past couple years off-n-on and feel it is very useful in treating my anxiety. Though, it has only partially lifted my depression. I'm on a very low dose at the moment - 150 mg./day taken at bedtime. Higher dosages only seem to make me feel lethargic with no increased benefits in alleviating my depression. Am considering taking Celexa, as I've read some good things about it.
