Hello. I'm taking buprenorphine, although not for opiate addiction. (I'm using it as an antidepressant.) What would you like to know?

I'd like to know if you're taking it to counter anti-cholinergeric effects of another AD, and how it's working, and does it have any mood-elevating effect on its own?

It won't counter anticholinergic effects. It is an antidepressant in its own right.

how do you take the buprenex and how often and how much also how long have you been taking for depression?

is it expensive? and are you taking other anitdepressant meds with it?

how did you or your doctor decide to try this med as an antidepressiant and do you know of any good places to get more info on Buprenorphine in treating resistant depression?

thanks,
dylan

I've only been taking it for about 2 months. I take it "as needed," not every day. The dose is 0.5cc (= 0.15mg), intranasally.

My insurance has a copay, so I don't know how expensive it is. I think it might be, though. I'm also taking Parnate and lithium.

A researcher at a local hospital had done a small study of it, and I happened to see him for a consultation (I have a difficult-to-treat recurring depression with residual symptoms). He suggested it as an option, and after trying a couple other things, my psychiatrist and I decided to go with it.

Doing a medline search on, say, buprenorphine and antidepressant, should give you a couple articles. There isn't much out there, though.
