Should adults (me:female-45yo-great health) take medication "vacations"? My depression
and ADD has been (finally)successfully treated for the past year
with effexor (225mg) and dexadrine (30mg) daily. Although this
is the best I've felt in years, I'm concerned about the
long-term effects. Any special blood tests? Thanks to everyone!

James here....
Generally no on the vacations....those on anti psychotics take drug holidays to avoid some of the nasty side effects but stims and AD don't have
these sideeffects.A general blood panel from time to time is not a bad idea...I do a liver panel as I take a number of meds that the liver metabolizes...just to make sure all is ok. Have your BP checked...stims and some AD's can raise BP.
