Hyper Sensitivity

Posted by ptsd on July 6, 1998, at 11:25:35

I have experienced hyper sensitivity to various elements starting with water
quality, air quality (Sick Building Sydrome), Sound (Hyperacusis), depression word sensitivity, drift, language sensitivity, disassociative disorder, anger/rage, ptsd and burnout over the last two years in the order indicated.

The last time I suffered a burnout was eleven years ago without the hyper sensitivity. I used pepcid for the anti-acid condition and Maxizide for the Blood pressure. I was treated
by a cardiologist and returned to active employment after 9 month bed rest.

Currently using mega dosage of beta blockers for short duration to treat emotional triggers and burnout. In incremental loading. Work down time has been nominal

I am under the care of a primary physican and team of other specialist.

I am in a HMO.

Meditation works but the recovery time is too long.
In the first episode in 1987 it took 9 months.

I have missed normal time (5 to 6 days a year) from work but productivity is not there.

Any suggestions ?

I would really recommend some bio-feedback to lesson your sensitivity & teach you some defense techniques for when this situation comes at hand. I went through the same thing about 3 years ago, and started an anti-depressant regimen with an anti-anxiety available on hand for when the going got REAL Tough. It also helped when I felt agoraphobia coming on. Prozac worked great, but now I am on Effexor & am not sure yet exactly what I think about it. Hope this helps.

Watch out for those beta blockers...known to cause depression. Cardiac patients call Inderal "end it all"
