Hunter S. Thompson's trick for writer's block...

It was to type out the Great Gatsby. At some point (anyone who uses this method knows it works this way) when you do this, eventually it'll lead you to some thought to form of some kind, creative or non-fiction or whatever the heck you need to write, simply by forcing you into the thought process and habituation of writing.

Anyhow, it beats staring at a keyboard, or Googling away the day. ;)

What I like to do, to make it fun, is type out song lyrics as they play. Eventually, I begin to write whatever I'm suppose to be writing, plus I got to enjoy a good song.

But then I switch to some POP Classical, like tribute to a band I like, so I don't get distracted by the lyrics and yet helped out by the music to not over-focus and get writer's block.
