And what makes you so qualified to make a definitive statement are you a doctor or brain neurologist, second is Dopamine changed in the brain permanently???? cause I am on Effexor which changes Noephephrine but not Dopamine> Hi this is mike. Marijuana does not effect serotonin systems. It does have an effect on norepenephrine, and to a greater degree dopamine. Marijuana should not cause long term brain damage and decrease in memory. Since THC is fat soluble, the THC will "stick" to your neurons for a long period of time, but once the THC is totally eliminated from the body, you will find that your concentration has gone up. Marijuana induces temporary ADD but this is NOT permanent. If you really have trouble concentrating, it could very much be because of depression, which marijuana can exacerbate. Best of luck to you.
