Private forums not private either

Posted by jane d on October 26, 2010, at 3:22:13

This link is from a recent series in the Wall Street Journal about internet privacy. It describes companies gatherring user information from a member only medical forum. I'm posting it primarily for those former babblers who've said they feel safer at forums like that however I think everyone should read it. It's important to realize that EVERYTHING posted anywhere on the internet is potentially public. That's not necessarily always bad but we should always be weighing the potential risks and benefits.

The rest of the series is interesting too.
