---------------------------------------------------------Hey Manic, you probably thought I was joking. Not. Phenelzine(Nardil) is about the worse when it comes to ejaculation delay. For years I would have trouble cumming even through masturbation at 90mg. Since I've been able to lower my dosage to 60mg daily I am able to orgasm, but it is still delayed. I also use a compounded testosterone gel, that keeps my testosterone high, even though I am a 52 year old geezer.
I am blessed with a partner who cums easily and a lot. No, we do not do two hours of straight intercourse. Our lovemaking is a mixture; mostly oral, vaginal and anal intercourse. And the KY Jelly is always handy. I counted once, just for the ego booster that some of us need. This woman, on one day, in two sessions; had not less than fourteen orgasms to my one or two. This really helps, to have this kind of a sexual partner, for those of us who are forced to take medications that delay or eliminate orgasm.
For the women out there, who are forced to take these medications that make orgasm so hard, believe me; I know where you are at. I have been fighting this side effect now, for more than 12 years. When the average male lasts between 4 and 5 minutes during intercourse, I don't see how you can possibly orgasm from intercourse alone. Maybe you could use a very small amount of testosterone gel and get him a prescription for a SSRI for the premature ejaculation.
Manic, I know the SSRIs do the same thing. I have tried that route. In fact, I have been on 45+ different combinations of antidepressants. The only thing that has kept me alive is phenelzine combined with clonazepam. My diagnosis is treatment resistant atypical double depression with social anxiety. The double means that when I am not in major depression, there is always a level of background dysthymia.
I have tried eliminating phenelzine at least a half dozen times in the past 12 years. Each time the major depression returned in a matter of months. I am a lifer. There are worse things, but the psychic pain of depression is right up there. What else, other than severe, chronic physical pain can take away a person's desire to live. Our survival instincts are so strong that the pain has to be pretty bad to consider taking your own life. Depression runs in my family. My mom has fought it her entire adult life. I have had three first cousins who have suicided. Pretty nasty hand, but you play the cards that come up.
I have not been posting lately in an effort to keep my depression from being at the center of my life. But I have been a lurker since the early 2000s and posted a lot for a number of years. Mostly in my area of expertise, which is phenelzine and MAOIs. Search for Jedi and you can see my ongoing battle with this insidious disease.
