Phillipa, I think you may have misunderstood me. What I am saying is, if there is a pregnant illegal alien, I think she should get the ventilator or vaccine ahead of a healthy citizen.
What bothers me is when citizens say illegal aliens or other non citizens in at risk priority groups should die just because they are not citizens. The are human too and deserve a chance at life.
I think the vaccines, ventilators etc, should be given to the people who most need them and who are most likely to die without them, be it a citizen or an illegal alien.
Certainly if there is a pregnant citizen and a healthy illegal alien, the pregnant citizen should get the resource.
What I am trying to say is that we should be blind to a person's status and only use their medical circumstances to decide who will get treatment.
The poor and the rich, citizens and non citizens, the young and the old, should all be given access to scarce resources according to how much they need them.
