I, too, struggle, with this. I thought I actually knew my way around but everytime I tried to post anything, the buttons didn't work. Stranger still, nothing worked until I arrived here. (no kidding)
I've been drunk and maybe even a little crazy (not psychotic but I'm not the best opinion I suppose) and I'm even starting to sound like a cranky Jimmy Stewart, but never, have I experienced this kind of blackout where nothing works. (probably normal for Jim babe - how he flew planes I'll never know)
I've never known how to be social yet I've always been "charming" in a kind of "please-like-me", and "keep your distance" kind of way.
I have empathy that won't stop in real life but have a hard time relating online. It just doesn't seem real.
In real life, I would just love somebody all the time (not anything like the movie, "Fatal Attraction") I just mean, I'd love someone without being possessive or getting crazy about it.
Enough with the advertisement. Isn't that what we really do - put ourselves in the best light and put the best spin on it? How exhausting!
Still thinking about contacting the former "girlfriend" through classmates.com. (after 8 years of searching she turned up as "registered") Probably married since her name drops from every search 15 years ago. She only popped up now (no mistake) at that one site.
Meanwhile, my daughter and her hubby are moving into a house they bought and I dream about escaping Iowa.
