Thanks for the recommendations! I'd seen the Worwood book mentioned at many of the sites I've zoomed around. I was able to learn somewhat about the value of aromatherapy while I lived in England, where oils are sold, alongside homeopathic preparations, in local pharmacies. Talk about a civilized country!

When I worked for the Body Shop as a home sales consultant, the training concerning oils was limited to knowing that tea tree oil can be used neat, without a carrier oil; and that all others mustn't be used directly on the skin. That said, we sold lavender and bergamot oils... but no carriers. The emphasis instead was on home fragrances with lots of feel-good factor but no science that I could see! 'Nuf said that I became disillusioned that the brain child of Anita Roddick had descended to these depths.

I do follow my nose intuitively, and have done so for many years. (As a child I was only able to eat most of my mum's cooking by pinching my nostrils closed! You can imagine that I was sent to my room quite a bit.)

I'm hoping that my interest in the power and uses of essentials might lead to some more formal training.

Thanks again for your helpful direction!
