Most of the best humourists have been depressed. Maybe not all.
Peter Cooke I don't know, although he died alcoholic, John Cleese for sure, Ricky Gervais certainly feels like it. Spike Milligan was BP and had put on his gravestone 'I told you I was ill'. Tony Hancock (not one of my favourites) killed himself in Sydney.
Good humour is how we cope with challenging perceptions?
