Exacty what you and Falls said. Exactly.
No one pressured me to do anything. IRL, even my dearest and most well-meaning friends do it. And they really, really mean no harm, because they do care about me. But, they don't really *get* a lot of psychological stuff sometimes. They think they are helping, but actually it's triggering a lot of the time to me. Triggers negative thoughts like, "oh great, not only am I a freak and a misfit for not wanting to (____FILL IN BLANK___), but now I'm probably inconsiderate and ungrateful for not accepting their *encouragement* to step outside my comfort zone...." Then I'll withdraw, get defensive and they'll look away and be all uncomfortable... :-(
Toronto never felt like that :-)
